Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)
Enacted in 1990 and prohibits discrimination against people with disabilities in several areas, including employment, transportation, public accommodations, communications and access to state and local government programs and services.

ADA in the Workplace
The Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 (ADA) makes it unlawful to discriminate in employment against a qualified individual with a disability.
Information for Employers

Employers are prohibited from refusing to hire, firing, or disciplining employees based on their disability. A covered employee must be given reasonable accommodations to perform their essential job duties.
Information for Coworkers

People with disabilities may move, speak, think, or act at a different pace than you. They may have different abilities for picking up social cues or processing information and they could become overstimulated by noises, smells, or the people around them. Focus on abilities; what a person can do rather than what a person cannot do.
